The study model of a section of Piazza Municipio Metro Station (Naples).

Piazza Municipio Metro Station was designed by Portuguese architects Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura.

The project by Portuguese architects Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura includes a large interchange between two metro lines, line 1 and 6. The area incorporates and shows the archaeological remains of Greco-Roman periods discovered during excavation work.

The design and making of the model had the aim of analysing the connections between the upper square and the underlying train access area, characterised by the presence of staircases and escalators that connect the different floors, creating a play of pure volumes that articulate the space.

The need to better analyse the articulation of the vertical connections led to the design of the model as an element that could be disassembled into two pieces, such as to show the inside, and then be closed and joined by the square above.
